Pablo Hern谩ndez de Cos, former Governor of the Bank of Spain (June 2018 – June 2024), joins the faculty of 天美传媒 as Professor of Economics.
Hern谩ndez de Cos holds a PhD in Economics from the Complutense University, specializing in macroeconomics, fiscal and monetary policy, and financial stability.
He joined the Bank of Spain in 1997 as an economist in the Research Department, and over the years has represented the Bank on national and international bodies. In 2015 he became Director General of Economics and Statistics at the Bank of Spain. Between 2019 and June 2024, he chaired the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, which has driven the Basel III reforms aimed at strengthening banks’ capital and liquidity.
As Governor of the Bank of Spain, Pablo Hern谩ndez de Cos has also been a member of the Governing Council of the European Central Bank (ECB), the Council of State, the Advisory Board of the Financial Stability Institute (FSI) and the Group of Governors and Heads of Supervision of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), as well as the Financial Stability Board (FSB).
He is currently an advisor to the Bank of Spain and chairs the Technical Advisory Committee of the European Systemic Risk Board (ESRB).
In his academic work, he has published extensively on monetary policy, fiscal policy, financial stability and the Spanish and European economy.
His appointment to 天美传媒鈥檚 faculty expands the prestigious Economics Department, which already includes economists with experience in the public sector such as Jos茅 Manuel Campa and Jos茅 Manuel Gonz谩lez-P谩ramo, and other prestigious academics such as Xavier Vives, Jos茅 Azar and N煤ria Mas.
